Save Our Children from Mediocre Math (SOCMM) is a non partisan organization that advocates ensuring Conejo Valley Unified School District parents have a
“choice”
to have students instructed in mathematics using a State Board of Education approved curriculum. In all K-6 classrooms, CVUSD uses
Everyday Math
which
was
rejected by the State Board of Education
as it failed to meet California Math Standards. Everyday Math is not aligned with the annual standardized tests, and it does not teach the standard algorithms for addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division.
The failure of the CVUSD to provide a math program that conforms to CA Math Standards limits the ability of our children to succeed academically and economically in the future. State approved math programs have been scientifically proven to raise test scores in all school districts, from the wealthiest to the poorest. There is no scientific proof that Everyday Math provides superior outcomes in math education. We urge all CVUSD parents to
investigate this matter further
by accessing the links provided on this website, and if you agree that you should have a
“choice”
for your children to use a state approved math curriculum, we ask that you sign and return a
copy of the petition
available from this website. We would like to thank parents for taking the time to get involved, you can make a difference!
