Conejo Valley Unified School District
CVUSD School Board Candidate
Gregory Lennox
Supports “Math Choice” for CVUSD Students
I strongly oppose the district-wide use of discovery based learning for core subjects, including but not limited to Math. Fifty years of failed experiments with progressive Math, English, Science and Social Studies curricula should be more than convincing.
Rather than focus on Math choice alone, I would like to explore the idea of magnet school programs which would allow parents to choose between traditional and progressive curricula. In addition to being more responsive to parents, this approach has the potential to draw students out of the private school system back into the public schools at a time of declining elementary enrollment.
